History & Aims of North West Bloodhounds

Northwest Bloodhounds was formed in 2016 to provide Sunday clean boot hunting with a Bloodhound pack in the north west of England, with a friendly and welcoming group of members and followers. We aim to preserve the great traditions of sportsmanship, horsemanship, hound work and turnout, while providing a great day’s sport for followers of all ages, and from all ways of life.

Encouraging Newcomers into Hunting

We cater for newcomers and non jumpers, senior and junior, at every meet, and hold special meets for children to introduce them to the s  port safely, away from the bigger horses. Hedge hoppers and   thrusters are welcome at every standard meet, and some of our meets will provide plenty of challenges to satisfy those looking for an adrenaline fuelled day! Equally, at every Meet there is a Master or Senior Member assigned to look after the non jumpers in the field, with a

guaranteed way around every single jump. Additionally, every hunt or ride always has a Senior Member bringing up the rear, to ensure that no one is left behind, or left to find their own way around, ever! We also do our best to cater for the pick & choose group, and most Meets will include a variety of obstacles, including some at a lower height for ponies and those not ready to tackle the big hedges.

Summer Events

Out of season we hold social and training events as well as  competitions, most designed to help prepare horses and riders for the season ahead. Our summer season events for 2017 include hunt clinics, our Cheeky Monkeys ride through Chester Zoo, Breakfast and Hound Ride, a ride taking in the beautiful surroundings of Delamere Forest, a beach ride with barbeque, an  introduction to hunting training day, and Strictly Come Hunting, our hunt themed fun show. In addition we will have an NWBH team competing in local Inter-hunt Relays, and we will be parading our hounds at Royal Cheshire Show and at Aintree National Show.
